Solihull Theatre Company’s first concert, conceived and directed by Laura Poyner, was held in October last year. Alongside her in the Production Team were Martin Sleaford as Musical Director and Rebecca Hovington as Choreographer together with a huge team of helpers! The group excelled themselves by presenting a plethora of musical entertainment enjoyed over two sell-out nights. Included in the extensive programme were old favourites from Rodgers & Hammerstein, Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera as well as more contemporary extracts from The Wedding Singer. The show ended spectacularly with a toe-tapping rendition of “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from the hit musical “Hairspray”. A great success for all concerned, this will hopefully become a regular feature in STC’s annual programme.
